I’m going to be moving to Guangzhou in a few months and my employer offers Mandarin lessons. That’s great and all but they speak Cantonese in GZ. I’ve ordered software to try to learn Cantonese on my own but how much different is it from Mandarin? Is it like the difference between Spanish and Portugese where two individuals could be speaking both languages and still understand each other, is it simply a different dialect or are they completely dissimilar?

I find this unfair cause I already speak two languages and I can’t stand spanish classe. I never felt so out of place.

I was thinking of buying instant immersion that i found on amazon. i think it’s called 102 instant immersion but i may be wrong.

What kind of software can i use to learn spanish 101 and 102 mad quick? I only want to learn enough to get a D in the class. I lost all my spanish in h.s. C would be nice also.

Language teachers are mad hard in my university. Some teachers fail students for misplacing accent marks.

Cantonese is not accepted in my school they only accept mandarin.
