m&fn princess asked:

I want software that can teach more than just one language. I looked at Rosetta Stone but its like $400 just for Spanish! Do they have a program with more than one langauge that costs less? Does anyone???

How difficult is it to learn Portuguese from Spanish?

J J asked:

I wish to learn Portuguese, but the University I am attending only offers Spanish. I have elected to learn Spanish, but was wondering about the extent to which my knowledge of Spanish will be transferrable to Portuguese?

If it helps, I’m pretty good at learning languages.

What is best software for learning foreign language?

jenny r asked:

I am seriously interested in learning some foreign languages, and was wondering if anyone here could recommend the best software for learning on my own. I am especially interested in spanish and arabic. I know absolutely nothing about either language so I’ll need something that starts at the absolute beginner level. I have looked at several different software packages, but was not sure which one would be the best to start with. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Learning new languages?

David asked:

Ok so I’m a college student, and next year I’ll begin learning Chinese. However, there are quite a few languages I really want to learn. German, because its where my parents are from. Spanish, because it is the second most common language in north america. Japanese, which I took for a while in high school. Also Dutch and Arabic. Obviously it will take many years to learn all these languages, but I am good at learning languages and I’m wondering what is the best way besides immersion to learn them? What software is the best, or do those even work? Are private lessons worth it?
