I want to learn Spanish- how should I approach it?
I took Spanish classes in high school and was able to memorize many nouns and verbs which I still remember years later. I married a Mexican and now find myself surrounded by Spanish all the time and want to learn because I know my husband will some day want our kids to learn also.
Currently I understand about 50% of everything spoken. I know thousands of nouns and verbs. Problem is I can’t seem to put together any sentences using these nouns and verbs and I’m terrified to speak in Spanish.
I have tried online software and cd’s that are supposed to help you learn but they are too elementary and are boring but if I try a higher level I feel lost because they surpass me.
My husband cannot teach me because he doesn’t understand that correcting everything I say makes things worse and not better so we gave up.
What should I do?
Learn Spanish Tenses

take a course, but do not focus just on nouns and verbs… Just learn a few first.
When i learned english, we would see the tenses, and not focus on words. He thought me grammar, how to put together the sentences in present perfect and stuff. Learn a few verbs and words to make sentences which you can conjugate in the tenses and focus on the rules… after that, you’ll find it easier to memorize verbs and nouns.
