Which language learning method is good; Pimsleur, Michel Thomas, or Rosetta Stone method?

Zak asked:

My sister is looking into learning French and Spanish and a couple of people have told her that the Pimsleur method is awesome, others the Michel Thomas, and now the Rosetta Stone language learning software is out there and supposed to be the best.

So which one is good for learning a foreign language or do they all differ, depending on what languages are being taught or learned?

Good language learning software/program to buy?

Paks asked:

I am 16 and have just completed Spanish 2. I understand the basics and love to speak spanish.
Over the summer, I was hoping to get a good head start on Spanish and take my knowledge of the language to a new level. I want to speak it fluently someday and hopefully gain a career with it.

Anyway, like I said, over the summer I really want to keep with it. I REALLY wanted Rosetta Stone, but it is just tooo expensive. Is there any other programs like Rosetta Stone that are in a more reasonable price range, you know, somewhere around $100?

The free sites really aren’t cutting it for me because they have too much of the basic stuff that I really don’t want to repeat.
